Dr. Robert J. Seebacher

Dr.  Robert J. Seebacher is Music Director and Conductor of the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, Director of Instrumental Programs at Centre College in Kentucky, Music Director and Conductor of the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra in Alabama, and Assistant Conductor for the National Chorale in New York. He has appeared with the Lexington Philharmonic, Youngstown Symphony, Warren Philharmonic and Mobile Symphony orchestras. Dr. Seebacher’s previously held positions include Director of Orchestras and Conductor of Opera at the University of South Alabama as well as assistant conductor with the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theatre and the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra.served on the faculty of the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts until its elimination by the Department of Education. While in residence there, he conducted opera and taught conducting, music theory and history, as well as French horn.  He has conducted numerous all-state and honors orchestras in Kentucky, West Virginia and Alabama. His guest artist collaborations have included those with Chee-Yun, Béla Fleck, Mark O’Connor, Midori, the Canadian Brass, Arlo Guthrie and Lynn Harrell. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (cum laude) from Youngstown State University, a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conducting from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Seebacher has participated in training workshops at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at the University of Michigan. He conducted the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra as part of their inaugural conducting symposium. His teachers include William B. Slocum, Stephen L. Gage, John Nardolillo, Emily Freeman Brown and Gustav Meier.

Dr. Kellie Brown
 

Dr. Kellie Dubel Brown has been a member of the Milligan College music faculty since 1998 and serves as chair of the music department, director of the strings program, and conductor of the Milligan College Orchestra. Dr. Brown is a frequent clinician and performer throughout the country, and the assistant conductor and assistant concertmaster of the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, Dr. Brown has performed several world premieres including An Encounter for Violin and Piano by Jane Perry. She has conducted numerous world premieres including Three Genres by John Grubb and Genesis by Kenton Coe. Her expertise in musical theater has made her in demand throughout the region as performer, conductor, and musical director. She has performed in pit orchestras for many productions at Barter Theatre and other venues. Musical theater conducting credits include Oklahoma!, Little Women, Secret Garden, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Godspell, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Annie Get Your Gun, and others. She has written numerous compositions and arrangements, and is a recognized authority on music in the concentration camps during the Holocaust. Her lecture “Alma Rosé and the Women’s Orchestra at Auschwitz: Lessons on Tolerance and the Triumph of the Human Spirit” has been given throughout the United States. Her articles have appeared in numerous journals for music educators. Brown’s first book, An Annotated Bibliography of Musical Fiction, was published by Edwin Mellen Press, and she is a contributor to Teaching Music through Performance in Orchestra, Vol. 2, published by GIA. Dr. Brown studied at Furman University, East Tennessee State University, and Appalachian State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in music education, a master’s degree in violin performance, and a doctoral degree in higher education administration, with an emphasis in music administration.
